I have a friend that called me and said her daughter was going to go to this place, Medjugorje. I didn’t even know where that was, in what part of the world. She said, “Oh come on.” It took me about a month before I could say, “Okay fine. I’ll go.”
At the last minute, she breaks her knee so she couldn’t come. I thought, “Well, I’m ready to go so I’m going. It’s either now or I probably won’t go.”
I had no idea this place existed. I had no idea about the apparitions. I didn’t know anything about it. I have come here completely blind. I wasn’t expecting anything.
When I came here it was just amazing. It has changed me.
For one thing, if you go to confession, that’s when you find peace. That’s when you feel much better about yourself, you’re going to go home and continue with your faith.
For me, confession was something I’ve been wanting to do for a long time. I thought it was going to be hard. It was easy. The priest was very understanding. Confession was so good. I should have done it a long time ago. The Virgin and the Lord brought me all the way over here to do this.
Climbing Cross Mountain is hard, but it’s worth it. Coming with a group was the best thing for me. I would have never done it myself.
Praying does a lot. I was not used to praying the Rosary. I didn’t grow up praying the Rosary. Everybody here prays the Rosary.
I’ve always been Catholic, but, you know, sometimes you just do the minimum. You just go to Mass and you’re done. You just go on with your life. I always tried to be good, but now it’s like, we have to do the Rosary every day. The Rosary is what got me. I’m going to start doing it. This is something that I’m going to go for.
