Melissa

This is my fifth trip to Medjugorje and I had only been in Medjugorje for 12 hours when I faced an unexpected situation. Long story short, my finger got slammed in a door and I had to be taken to the emergency room in Mostar. Turns out I actually lost some of my finger flesh and had to have my bone shaved down in order to have my finger stitched up.

At the time it was just crazy. Nothing was registering because things escalated so quickly. I do believe that through it all Our Blessed Mother gave me the graces to endure the shock and pain, which I think is how it always happens in life with Our Blessed Mother.

I know when you are in a lot of suffering and pain you can offer it up. Usually I don’t have a lot of physical pain, suffering we all have, so immediately when it happened, I was like “Oh my gosh I have so many things I have to offer this up for.” As it continues to hurt, I continue to offer it up for people, their conversions, and various situations… and my future husband.

Of all the places this could have happened, I love that it happened in Medjugorje. It feels more meaningful and I’ve been asking myself what it is that I am supposed to learn from this freak accident, but only time will tell. Before I always felt as though I had left a part of my heart in Medjugorje, now I’ve left part of my finger there too.
